There are rumors of a powerbook type that may be introduced tomorrow at
MacWorld that will be in between the iBook and the TiBook. Is that what you
are looking for. There are also reports of Pismo powerbooks being available
for $1600 to $1700 from some places like OWC or Small Dog. Refurbished
probably, but that's not a problem as long as it has a warranty. I was lucky
and got a warranty card with my WallStreet demo unit that I bought last
fall. No problems yet, but I will definitely invest in AppleCare to extend
it. Laptops are too expensive to repair, as you recently found out. Hope
your next attempt works better.
