The were provided to Apple Authorized repair shops as part of the Authorized membership package for many years until recently, when it all went on-line. If distributing the individual service manuals is illegal (it is), distributing the real CDs (or even copies of them) is doubly-so. These are confidential documents, and I'm sure copy-right applies, but the real reason these are illegal is because the intended recipients of these documents and CDs signed contracts with Apple that stated they would NEVER distribute them. It's really in their best interest, too; propagation of these docs waters down the value of the services these Service Providers offer, and doesn't really affect Apple directly. I'd be willing to bet the prohibition against distribution was included at the request of the Service Providers, not Apple. If I were a Service Provider, I'd be hopping mad any time I saw these on-line, as it would have a negative impact on my business. That said, Apple hasn't distributed CDROMs of Service Source in a year or two, so if you won't get any that have documents on recent-ish machines. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
