Need some help please...

I have two new batteries, different brands, for my G3 Wallstreet. Both
batteries show ~16.80 volts when inserted in the PB using the application
MyBattery PPC. The menu bar battery shows a depleted battery icon and the PB
goes down on low voltage sleep when unplugged.

I can't get the PB to charge and none of my battery indicators will indicate
a charging state when plugged in including the battery icon next to the time
display in the menu bar.

I have tried inserting and reinserting. No change. They have been charging
overnight. I have reset the PowerManager with shift-function-control-power
and have reset the PRAM. No luck. I know these batteries are good.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
