Yep, as Roger says, the 'built-in' requirement is nonsense. Any FireWire-equipped Mac works with iMovie, for camera control and capturing, whatever. Enjoy. You can still get the Newer FW2Go card for under $40 and there's an IBM one for $29, I think.
