Greetings, James: If you have enough RAM to spare, or can boot well enough to set up virtual memory, you might try removing the memory module. If you can then boot reliably, the problem should be isolated to the memory module. Might be easier to get memory replaced than service in Meherabad.
Just had something similar happen with a Pismo - crashed, couple of partial boots, then deader than a doornail. No sad mac, messages, nothing. Pulled the 512mb module and am running on 128 with vm until the new module arrives.
