Now you mention it, the trackpad does seem to seesaw slightly, but only
if I put more pressure on it than I ever would in normal use. I've never
had trouble with it though, and certainly no cracking noises!

(I do agree that it doesn't feel as robust as the other PBs I've used - a
3400 and a 540.)
