As your last comment suggested, I think it's the same on the Wallstreet as on the Pismo - whichever RAM module is slower must be in the lower (slim-profile) slot. My own experience was that when I had the faster module in the top slot, I would get flaky memory problems (apps crashing, etc.), but these went away when the slower module was in the bottom. I suspect that when the system checks the RAM, it checks the first module and assumes (can a machine assume?) that the upper module is running at the same speed (which if it's not, causes problems). That's my semi-educated guess based on my own experience and the comments from others which I got when I raised the question on this list a few months back...
