Hi everyone, I have a problem that has me completely stumped. I have a Pismo 400 MzH, that used to have the standard 6 GB HD. However, the drive was constantly "unmounting" itself- resulting in the painful flashing question mark, and often having to re-initalize my HD. I ran the PowerBook hardware test CD that came with my Pismo- and everything was fine. I thought that over the years that I had damaged part of the original HD, so I ordered a larger (30 GB) HD and replaced my failing 6 GB HD. However, I am having the same problem even on the new HD - the HD keeps unmounting itself. I have run numerous HD repair programs running from Norton Disk Doctor, to Disk Warrior, and even the Apple First Aid, they all find problems on the Hard Drive, and supposedly fix them- but when I go to reboot, I still get the flashing question mark. It has gotten to the point that I cannot even boot from the HD anymore. Most of the errors that I get have do do with bad catalogs and B-Tree errors.
I thought that I might have a bad internal battery, but I have tested it, and it still holds it's charge. Has anyone had a similar problem? Can anyone suggest the source of the disk error, that the hardware test would not pick up? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
