If I'm not mistaken the Kanga was a bastardized descendant of the 3400 except with a new(ish) motherboard and a G3 processor. I'm not sure about what TYPE of chip it took but the instructions for the 3400 *should* apply here. A quick Google search (keywords: powerbook 3400 manual) turned up this site: http://www.n-synch.com/manuals/apple/pb3400.htm Which seems to help somewhat. I'm sure there are better links. Good luck to you.
