Gary, let me give you my experiences.

I have two WS PB, a 14 in screen and a 13 in screen. I have put a
Sonnet G3 500Mhz in both with easy installation and no problems in
operation. I am running OS 10.2.3 on both as well as OS 9.2.2. Neither
have had any problems.

But be aware of something that most people overlook. No matter what
upgrade you install, the WS PB will only have a Bus speed of 66 MHZ.
You can install a G3 500MHz or a G4 500Mhz and you will still only have
a 66Mhz bus speed. That means that you can have all that power but it
gets choked down. That is why you will never see increases like the
present day PB which have 100 Mhz buses or better.

Now, you will see a speed increase with the upgrades mentioned above.
It will be noticeable and you won't want to go back to what you had.
Benchmark testing will confirm an improvement in speed.

Some have indicated an increase in temperature after the upgrade. I do
see a noticeable higher temp but nothing unbearable or dangerous.
Always use the PB with good circulation and not a lap pad or pillow
that restricts air flow. O/W you should be Okay.

Executive Summary:

- Noticeable speed increase with some elevation in operating temp.
- Not the same as newer PB due to bus speed limitations.

Best Regards,
Byron
