All I have on my Pismo is OS X v.10.2.3, no OS 9 at all. I just upgraded the RAM and hard drive to 768MB/40GB 5400rpm but I had been running a 400MHz/320MB/10GB for about a year and it has been very well, I can't stand to work in 9 on it so I just took it off. 10.2 is very snappy for me.
