I should have been more concise. The update didn't change my dock 
settings at all- it didn't add or change anything I had before. But, as 
I stated before, I'm running all sorts of haxies and add- ons to OSX 
which may account for the different behavior of my Mac in response to 
this upgrade, and judging by others' responses, differently on their 
set- ups.

There was the scare at first when no apps would open, and, 
unfortunately, I didn't use the scientific method when applying 
remedies so I don't what or if anything fixed that problem, but all is 
well now. What is for sure is the the update initially screwed my 
system and now that things are okay, the system runs like a top on my 
12" 800MHz iBook combo drive/10.2.4/256MB/30GB.
