I did the very same thing a few years ago with a dumb hub. I used an FTP server program on the Mac and logged in from the PC. You're not going to get a GUI interface to transfer the files. Then when I was going from PC to Mac (the right way! ;) I just put the files I needed on a zip disc. I'd suggest zip disc or burn a CD if possible. Much simpler.
