Actually, very few G cards are supported by Airport 3 and even fewer are supported with the open source wireless driver. I would stick with it and play with the WAP to get a better signal. If you own your own house and you can find an area without a ceiling (e.g. only rafters) try mounting the WAP in there. That's what I did in my apartment building and I can pick up my SMC through 4 concrete walls and 80 feet away.
