Hi all, to those who've held back installing OS X on their wallstreet because of all the naysayers, well, count me as one who's found it to run very satisfactory.
I did put in a fast (20gb 5400rpm travelstar) Hard drive, and maxed the
memory at 512mb, but other than that, my 266mhz G3 wallstreet is stock.
And it is running fine. I did give up a tiny bit of functionality (I've
got to search for drivers that no longer work for some of my older
peripheral, and may not find the), but I also installed OS 9.2.2 on the
other partition of the hard drive, so I'll be able to start up on sys 9
if I need to use these again.
There is no question that in my mind the OS X interface is much more
elegant. It takes some getting used to, especially the file handling
and look of the windows. I do also kind of miss all the control panels
and the ability to fine tune things more, but I think I can get used to
OS X.
