It has to use a non-Apple wireless card, because the Apple AirPort card
doesn't have an antenna so that's why you can use it only in an
AirPort-ready Macintosh because those have an internal antenna in the case.

The other reason is that although the form factors are the same, an airport card will not work in a pcmcia slot and vice versa. The pinouts are not the same either. I think this is a BIT more important than not having an internal antenna. ;)
