when i installed os9 it was from my original disc, ver. 9.0.4.  after
spending a lot of time transferring files under osX to the new os9
partition, i then updated the os9 to 9.1(and then 9.2) as soon as i did this
the os 9 partition mounted the firewire drive and everything is fine now.
except that eve the programs i run from the old drive via firewire seem a
tad faster.  things on the new drive are definitely faster
