I've noticed that, when running on battery, it seems the sound subsystem gets turned off, but wakes up when a sound event gets played. For example, just now, after not having any sounds played for a while, I went to iTerm and hit ^G to cause an alert to trigger. I heard a bit of disk activity, a slight pop from the speakers, and finally the alert sound. It took about 2-3 seconds for the alert to finally sound. If I trigger another alert soon after, it'll play again with no delay. If I wait a minute or two, the delay will happen again.
Is this an energy-saving "feature"? It doesn't seem to happen when running off the AC adapter...
Thanks, B
