So, if I clone my drive from my TiBook (800mHz) running 10.2.8, it should work just fine in the AlBook? I'd hate to have to reinstall everything all over again.

Yeppers.

Bruce, have you specifically done this clone (i.e., from a Ti to an Al PowerBook)? Because I've had issues with a clone of the latest OS (10.2.7 at the time) being put into a newer machine. In my case I went from a Dual 1 Ghz MDD to a Dual 1.25 GHz MDD and the clone failed. Only by updating my image from the DVD that shipped with the 1.25 GHz machine was I able to produce a bootable drive. I never bothered to find out exactly what the difference was between the installs but I suspect that it had to do with the FW 800 port and drivers. The same issue could happen with this proposal as there is newer hardware for which. Mac OS X may not have drivers.

Hal, you may be better off by doing your clone and then reinstalling OS X from the DVD that shipped with that Al PowerBook. You can choose to preserve all users and groups - that will preserve the /Users folder where preferences live and the account information.
