Be careful of some of the newer CD-R discs as well. My Lombard cannot read some of the newer and cheaper CD-R discs, but reads my 4x CD-RWs and pre-48x CD-Rs just fine too. The Wallstreet uses a similar mechanism which might not be able to even read RWs, but will still have problems with the newer CD-RW discs.

Something else this machine is doing is not recognising CD's, in
particular, CD-RW's.  It also will not always mount the OS install
disc.  It has done this with both the OS and X discs.

Any ideas are welcome.

My Wallstreet wouldn't read a CDRW, I don't think any Wallstreet can. CDR, yes.
