Airport supports AppleTalk over the wireless connection which very few other wireless routers do. The Buffalo is one of the exceptions. Airport also has the ability to connect a modem as backup to DSL/cable or as primary connection. This feature is available on some other wireless routers too. But, that cool design is Apple only.
