As another poster said - remove all peripheral when you run the installer
(better to clear this option first before you dig in).

That 4GB drive will be a bit of tight fit but it should work - once
stuffed OSX 10.1, OS9, and LinuxPPC into my old 4GB drive. Still a bigger
drive is nice - IBM travelstar drives seem to work nicely on the Lombard.
