My 333Mhz powerbook G3 (Lombard) died - the Apple repair folks said it was
a dead PMU - ordering one and installing it would cost more than the value
of the machine.

How viable is it for me to find a PMU on my own and replacing it myself
?(haven't had much luck finding any detailed info on how to so far).

Or am I better off trying to find a cheap used iBook? - my Lombard was
purely an Internet machine so a lower-end box would be ok - as long was
the next OSX version doesn't leave it behind :) I'd prefer a laptop for
compactness..
