The cost of the PMU is about $300 new (last time I checked, and you may not be able to purchase new since this is considered an Apple Service part only). You can find several companies who repair Powerbooks will also have parts such as this for quite a bit less. These companies also repair Powerbooks usually for a flat fee plus the charge for the part:
