Hi Bob and Jeff-

Bob this is good info and I'm storing it. Thanks for taking the time. I'm using 10.3.3, sorry for leaving that out. Yesterday I had tried to eject going thru several warm reboots thinking that the the OS "thought" that a file was still open. When I wasn't successful I thought the slot might have gotten warped from all the heat generated and needed to cool down, to contract. Just before I got your OS X methods I did a shut down, waited for a while then restarted with the eject key held down and out it came. Whew! Thanks to you and all the others that responded.
