Hello All,
I recently went on a trip the other week and my airport detected a network. Nothing unusual, but even though it was connected to this network, I wasn't "connected to the internet" because the Airport was reporting a "self-assigned IP address" . Is there a setting to change this? Or was the wireless network not "free"?
Most likely the network you were seeing required a WEP key ('Password' is what Airport calls it) that wasn't entered. It's also possible that it was also restricted to specific MAC addresses.
