Here's a an idea, get Panther and upgrade it to 10.3.4 (for now) with XPostFacto 3 release. Install after you have backed up your OS HD with CCC or similar naturally. I think you'll find no sleep issues now. Sound in will still be distorted though, I think. This was my experience with my PDQ, but then of course I had no sleep issues really under Jaguar either.
