Fast forward 5 years, and common wisdom will be that Apple had a huge problem with 17" laptops bursting into flames in 2004, where dozens of people were badly injured "A friend of a friend's sister's husbands second cousin's best friend's neighbor had it happen to THEM!" and "They're going to go out of business any day now!"
