Christmas is around the corner and i'm thinking about getting it
myself. I just want some input from people about their experiences
with the upgrade. So many people are telling me how much better their
Pismo is in terms of rigidity and usefulness so I'm thinking about
extending my computer's service another three years. :-P

Mark,

I got the 550MHz upgrade from Daystar Technology. I honestly haven't used the machine enough to give a thorough evaluation (I gave the machine to my parents), but there were no problems. Also, their service and communication were very good.

The FastMac service is $40 cheaper but you have to take out the processor board yourself and send it to them. Also, their turnaround time is much slower; I used Daystar because I was in a hurry. I am going to upgrade my own machine shortly and I will not be in a hurry so I will try FastMac to save the $40.

I have seen only good feedback on both FastMac and Daystar.
