From time to time people - me included -have asked for help with non-functioning DVD players in Pismo Powerbooks. I thought mine had died again (Matsushita replaced LG as recommended). I've just upped the RAM from 192 to 640. Suddenly CDs mount, DVDs play again. Mind, I had a scary morning as nothing happened at all after I'd put the RAM in first time. After about five disassemblies/reassemblies it all sprang to life again. Phew! So the moral seems to be - if your CD/DVD Player won't work, try more RAM.
