It seems that many of the answers flowing here on this New Year's Day are missing the point of the question. The original poster's father's wife is apparently a middle-aged to older person. But we do not know whether her corrected eyesight is 20/20 or 20/100.

Yes, a 12 inch screen may be a serious hindrance for someone with less than average eyesight. There are many eye conditions that will preclude use of a 12 inch screen at 1024 x 768 resolution. In one example, a person with cataracts may fail reading that 12 inch screen, but the same person after cataract removal and artificial lens replacement with rejuvenated vision at 20/20 or better can now enjoy that 12 incher.

OK, I had a person give me a hard time about a 12 inch LCD screen size and I

screens?

Back to my original question, do people have genuine issues with 12 inch
screen size?
