About a year ago, there were many complaints about white spots on LCD screens on the Aluminum 15" Powerbooks. Apple at first rejected it, but finally accepted that it was a problem. Mine did not have this problem so I didn't follow it up, but I understand from another list that several people had their screens replaced. Check it out on MacFixIt.com and on the PowerBook list.
Whilst wandering apple.com looking for replacement Install and Restore discs for a TiBook I just bought, which the don't seem to offer, (see mini-rant/supplication in ePost Script below) I came across a technical note about white spots on powerbook screens and remembered your complaint and the response that it was unknown to Apple. Not true! Wish I had paid more attention but search, Google or just poke around and you'll find it.
