Wow, I have a similar situation, Wallstreet RIP, It began as a 12inch passive display 233 no cache bad PMU, so so battery. Replaced PMU, got it to boot reliably. Went to Ebay and optained 14 inch display assembly and installed. Went to Ebay and obtained blue chip g4 500 mhz replacement processor. Went to Ebay and optained a pair of low profile 256 PC 100 CL2 low profile SO Dimms and installed on blue chip processor card. Purchased 40 gig 2.5 in 9mm thick laptop hard drive, formatted first partition to less than 8 megs. Go to http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/ and find and install XPostFacto 3.0 and installed OSX 10.3.X, Set preferences in XPF to User Patched Rage Pro Drivers to get thousands of colors without artifacts. I went to Ebay and obtained USB II card, Firewire Card, and Lucent Gold 802.11B Card which under OS 9 shows up as airport card, and Under OSX I have subscribed to IOXperts for their driver for this card, which works well. I did this over the course of 2 years, but Other than having 2 sound cards fail, the beast works well.

I want to update it, so I've been reading the archives of this list to see whether it is feasible. I set a budget and was able to get the following parts +shipping for $238: Sonnet Crescendo G3/500 processor Fujitsu h-drive 40M 5400rpm (MHT2040AH) 256 Megs of low profile RAM (plus the original 64, for now) Belkin 802.11g Wireless Network card (matching our wireless router) Mac OS 10.2.8 My question is this; in which order should all of these parts be installed? Can you direct me to some sites on the internet for good instructions? Is there anything important I should know about this process before beginning? Thanks for your expertise! Before discovering this list, I didn't think it would be worth it to save this Powerbook. Sally -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
