Does anyone have a part #? I found Other World Computer online (or something like that) and they gave me a general idea... is there a 3rd party memory module I can get?

I wanted to add some RAM. I have a graphite iBook clamshell, no
firewire. It has 128MB of RAM on it now, what would it take to
upgrade to say... 256 or higher? And upgrading the harddrive? It
comes with the standard 6gb hard drive. Mostly it's the RAM. Are
there any considerations for installing it myself? Would I have to
reinstall the mac OS?  Thanks.

Clamshells are a PITA to take apart, but it can be done if you are
careful.

That said, there is only one RAM slot, so any upgrade means replacing
the RAM with a new module.

The RAM is fairly easy to access, under the keyboard and Airport card.
Should only take a few minutes.

The hard drive is another story. You have to remove:

     * Battery
     * Keyboard
     * Top case
     * Optical drive
     * Modem
     * Display assembly
     * Logic board EMI shield

A lot of fiddly bending and pinching of plastics to get the infernal
case apart. It can be done but is not for the timid.

If you only replace the RAM, there is no need to reinstall the OS. Of
course, if you replace the hard drive, you will have to format the drive
and install an OS.
