My fellow PowerBook-philes,

In a fit of unbridled upgrade-frenzy I am contemplating going all out on
the two Wallstreets I picked up on E-Bay recently. One alreayd has a
466 mhz G3 processor upgrade (maybe a Newer Tech version?) and the other
is a 300 mhz G3.

The question is:

Should I upgrade the second book to a 500mhz using Sonnet? (G3 upgrade
only US$199)
How much better would the G4 upgrade be?

My reason for asking is sheer curiousity. That and by spending the time
writing this I am not looking at the Sonnet website nor on E-Bay and
willfully spending money on Mac products I do not need.

The one thing I wonder: Would Tiger even run on a G3 Wallstreet? Would
it work better on a G4? Would any of this make a significant speed
difference?

>From what I read, the real limitations can be found in the video processor.

I have an iBook G4 1.2ghz with 768 RAM and Mac OS X and various programs
run quite well.

How would a G4 500mhz Wallstreet compare?

Oh the curiousity.

If I were a cat, I might be dead ... or stuck in some hole, in a tree,
or on a roof mewing.

Sincerely,
Pacer the Loon
