If you install the Airport software with the card installed,
then run the "Airport Setup" you should end up with a "dropdown"
in the TCP/IP control panel with Airport as an option.

Select that. If you are in range of a valid Airport signal you
should see the name of the router in the Control Strip Airport
tab.
