I'm considering buying a new hard drive from zip zoom fly. They

need cables or what does this mean?

When you're replacing an existing drive, you generally want just a bare
drive since you can reuse the existing screws, cable and bracket; so
this should be fine.

For a PowerBook you just need to make sure to get a notebook-sized drive
(2.5" form factor).

Hope this helps,
