Stuck @ spinning gear at start up will spin forever, I reset NVRAM no help Did command-s it stopped before it competed the check and did not make it to the prompt. I the last 2 succeful boots one soon had video problems white lines through the text and loss of icons in task bar, clicking on blank bar and icon picture came back. It also came up with message " .....You must restart computer....." Seems ominous... I am typing from an old windows box to try to get some help. Pismo is G4 500 upgrade/ 1 gig of ram/ 60 gig toshiba drive and 8x superdrive!
