Is there some URL out there where I can find instructions for how to
hook up at hotels/motels using the Ethernet setup?

Plug it in, set the ethernet TCP/IP to get it's address via dhcp. It shouldn't be any more complex than that. Certainly no more complex than the Airport connection.

Are you positive the ethernet port works? Is it enabled in the Network Port Configurations part of the Network preferences?\

One thing I've discovered in using my Lombard w/ ethernet cable is that I occasionally have to push the plug in the back to get a better connection. Not hard but just enough to make solid connection. There appears to be just a tiny bit of slop with the jack plugged in. This seems to makes the difference between getting a connection and not, or minimally, a poor vs good connection. This is worth checking out as a possibility anyhow.
