Hello all,

For some reason, after I changed ISP's, my Pismo refuses to
auto-connect to my Airport Network. I had to change my Airport network settings from "automatic" to "a specific network" under the "by default
join" dialog. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but since it's
not set to automatic, on those rare occasions when I'm actually out and
about with my Pismo, I have to remember to set it back to automatic
just to join a hot spot. Anyone know why this is? Should I delete my
network altogether and just create a new one? Here's the specs:

Pismo 500/1gigRAM/Airport card w/ Airport Base Station (snow). All
software is up to date, with exception of Tiger. I'm currently using
Panther 10.3.9.

Thanks for any input on this matter,

Zoltan

Zoltan,

This has just happened to me in the last week. Now when I come home and open up my Pismo I have to click on the airport icon in the menu and select my network. Used to do that automatically. Also it no longer asks if I want to connect to any open network it finds elsewhere.

I have a Pismo 400/768/40G/Airport card with a Belkin wireless router. Using 10.3.9.

Don't know if it is related or not but it takes a lot longer lately to load any Safari pages. I checked my DSL speed on one of those free sites and it has not changed. Just got a new (to me) iMac G3 400Mhz/640/10G/Airport and it seems to be much more snappier.

Any programs that would cause this? Airport card gone bad? Trying to think of the changes I have made... Anybody else out there notice this?

Thanks,

Dan-

Dan,

Now see this is getting interesting. I hope we didn't stumble on some kind of bug in Panther. I'm wondering if this is just a Panther thing, or if it is something that would go away with Tiger. Keep me posted if you discover a fix. I'll do the same.
