If I could consistently get good DVD burns at 2X, using a Pioneer DVR-K05 or Panasonic UJ-845 in the Lombard and Pismo, then I would be satisfied for "run and gun" DVD burning, on an occasional basis, with a fallback to USB or Firewire, for stationary use, at the fastest possible speed, depending upon what the rate limiting factor was, interface or drive. I guess I'll buy a USB + Firewire case this coming week, that way it will be usable on either the Lombard (USB only) or the Pismo (USB and/or Firewire). I am very pleased with the results with the Pioneer DVR-109 (now replaced by the DVR-110), the Pioneer DVR-K05, and the Panasonic UJ-845, when used in my B&W G3/450. I am also very pleased with the results of the Pioneer DVR-109 in my old Firewire-only case. I trust the DVR-109 or DVR-110 will work as well in the new USB + Firewire case.
