Barbara,
I have a Wallstreet that I use with a Belkin USB card (Cardbus card
in the PCMCIA slot). Works in OS 9, and if I remember correctly, OS X.
I'll look up the model number and send you the info.
Glad to hear you avoided the hurricane.

Dear Listers:
This is my third attempt. I'm using Netscape 7.02, and all the
settings show ISO-8859-1, but I shall send this message in plain
text as Laurent suggested. Third times a charm?
My First Goal: To attach a USB connection to my Wallstreet II
(Backside Cache 512K, Family 4753, Machine ID 312, PowerPC G3, 233
MHz, built in 1998 with SCSI only) so that I can buy a USB scanner.
My Second Goal: Find out how to access really old archives on the G-
Books' website.
Because of Rita, we evacuated Houston with the bottom layer of our
'98 Honday Odyssey van covered in plastic milk crates filled with 3-
ring binders packed with financial, medical, and other treasured
written records (maintained and undated ever since my husband and
Noah fought the "really big flood" together), hunting guns (there
is nothing worse than armed looters), dogs (2 with accompanying
kennels), and clothes (very few). We made the three hour trip to
Austin in 16 hours.
There has to be a better way to deal with all those paper records!
I figure the better way is to load up a small plastic shoebox with
ZIP disks and maybe some burned CDs, or one of those little USB
drives which would hold saved scanned copies of hard-copy financial
records. Then we would have more room for clothes in case we had to
recreate our lives.
I know the WSII is old but it has functioned well for me since
1999. The specs on the machine as it is now (using Apple System
Profiler and other records) are as follows:
PRAM battery: new
Built-in memory: 384 MB (upgraded)
Three partitions: (1) main partition running MacOS 9.0.4, (2) Mac
OS 9.2.1, and (3) personal data.
ROM revision: $77D.41F6
Har Drive: Toshiba 30GB (upgraded)
PCI: Slot$E1: Display Card Card Type: display Card Name: ATY,
RageLTPro, Card Mode: ATY,LT-C
To reach my First Goal, what do I need to buy to accomplish my goal
of making this beloved WSII (read that as "machine ain't broke and
has had lots and lots of money poured into parts, labor, and
software already") capable of using USB equipment. I prefer "plug
and play" options rather than "take apart and stare at the left-
over screws" options.
As for reaching my Second Goal, how would I access information
found in the G-Books archives for years prior to 2005? I think if I
had been able to access threads in the really old archives then I
might not have to be asking for help in reaching my First Goal,
because the people who participate in this list are really helpful.
Thank you for your help.
Barbara Tate
