I've also had very good luck on "dead" Pismos by propping up the keyboard, pulling the PRAM battery lead (red, black, white wire by the battery) and powering the 'book on. It should boot fine if it's just the rechargeable PRAM not waking up after it's long sleep. After the 'book boots, I've simply plugged the PRAM battery back in and it charges back up.
