with desiring something better than 1152x768 resolution, I wonder how many of us could cope with high resolution on small screens as we advance in age? I keep looking at a new 12" powerbook, but keep fretting about whether my eyesight would cope with font sizes beyond comfortable continuous use. If the new intel ibooks are rumoured to go to higher resolution smaller screens, us baby boomers may be left behind.

        I use 896x600 on a 15-inch powerbook fairly successfully.

A few apps want a different resolution, but not many. I don't use many graphics apps, however.

The only problems I've had are that the menu bars or apps with column format sometimes get crowded. Also if I have to paste text from one app to another, sometimes I have to adjust the text size, but I suppose that would happen no matter what.

When at home, I use a remote keyboard and have the powerbook about three or four feet away from me. I find this set-up much better than having a screen a few inches from my face.

                                                        Peter
