Sounds like a variation of a common problem...
open the HotSync Manager, turn off the Sync, reset the connection drop down, and then turn syncing back on....

if that doesn't work reboot after refreshing the connection... it should turn syncing back on by itself. If you have several connection types in the drop down, try changing the type.
