If you can modify your signature, you can also add 2 '-' characters at the beginning of a line, just above your name and signature. Many email clients and news readers will honor this when automatically quoting by omitting everything that follows those 2 '-' characters on a single line, which will make the life of others easier since they won't have to delete the extra text when they reply to one of your messages.
