I had never received spam on the .mac (I have it since the day it
was presented at the Macworld and offered for free).

I don't think they are linked. I don't use the .mac address on the
the list, and have also had it since the very beginning. In the past
2 months I have been getting 10 or more spam emails to it per day,
before that I got none for several years. Something's changed but I
don't know what. I am very careful to not give my .mac address to
anyone, I keep a yahoo account for any site that requires an email
address. It's frustrating.
