What kind of idiot company would make their web site platform specific and

Well my bloody stupid bank does. Presumably, 'for reasons of security', they only support windows and explorer or netscape. So, instead of being able to log in using the most secure system, I have to use the most insecure system, and as well I have to use a public computer to do that. They advise you not to use public computers! I ain' gunna buy one of them machines just because the bank would like me to. I wonder if the bank got a cut on a windows installation if they kept their website 'pure'?

And if I do try to logon using Safari on X, emulating IE on windows, they wait until you finish logging in before they advise 'sorry we don't support your system and / or browser'. They couldn't tell 5 steps beforehand when you first open the login page? They tell you to keep your security info secure - but let you expose them needlessly.

The bank have this on their site;
"The five golden rules of online security.
1) Make sure you have the latest security updates & patches
Helpful information about vulnerabilities in programs and how to find the fixes.

2)      Install anti-virus software
        Learn about commercial and free anti-virus protection products.

3)      Use personal firewalls
A firewall is a program that helps protect your computer from internet-borne threats, such as potential hackers and offensive websites.

4)      Read our password advice
Passwords are the key to your online account information so it’s important to keep them safe

5)      Use an anti-spyware program
This will help to prevent information about your online activities being collected by third parties."

All of course very necessary info for 'that lot', but for Macs, #4, and possibly # 3, are relevant. So Macs make your life 70% simpler, securitywise.

Q. Anybody know a better hack to get sites like this running on a Mac? As I said, Safari with debug on, using user agent Windows/MSIE 6 doesn't work.

TIA,

Stuart.
