I can't resist tossing in my two cents worth here. If you
can afford it, buy the Adaptec 29160 or 29160N PCI/SCSI card. They
have both 68 pin and 50 pin SCSI controllers on the card (Inside the
computer) and the external ports (68 pin in the 29160 and 50 Pin High
Density in the 29160N) can be adapted to 25 pin SCSI for scanners if
need be.
This way you can use your legacy hard drives and scanners but
also when you want to move up to a fast SCSI hard drive the card has
the controller for it.
