i recently re-partitioned the drive on my G3-350 (a long overdue bit of
maintainance), and prepared for a completely fresh install of all my apps.
while installing OS 8.6 i ran into a very frustrating problem. so here's my
question:
i did a custom install of all components, eliminating all the items i don't
intend to use on this machine. however, when i started up everything was
there--even all the things i left unchecked.
now...i haven't had a chance to experiment with this yet, but i think i may
have my own answer--please confirm. at the top of the list for OS 8.6 custom
install options are three options, something about all, all for this
machine, and base system items. if i checked the wrong one there will that
override my choices in the following sections? i know i installed with the
second option, this machine (or something like that). is this where i made
my mistake?
my most important disappointment is, i suppose, less important in the scheme
of things but i am very annoyed. in searching through my options i
discovered that the disk contains the good ol' jigsaw puzzle!!! i will not
attempt to defend myself here, but i really missed that darn thing! i
checked the box to have that installed in my apple menu items, but to no
avail. so i tried doing a custom update on my secondary disk with nothing
but the puzzle checked--still nothing. has anyone been able to install this
on their B&W? i am sure it could just be related to the other problems i
experienced--i hope that's it!
please, HELP!!!
